Groove Crew Gettin’ Down With Jagger

Groove Crew get ready, we’re going to be Groovin’ to Moves Like Jagger tonight.  We’ll be incorporating some hip hop movement, a cool turn or two and a little sexy hip roll!

Other new songs on our list for tonight include an energetic African themed piece called The Lioness Hunt,  a retro piece from our past We Got the Beat by the Go Gos and a slumpy slow down with The Lazy Song by Bruno Mars.

Don’t forget to bring your water bottles,  a smile and lots of energy!  See you tonight at GRC at 7pm!

All in 60 & Ab Attack Begin Tonight

Welcome to the Fall session everyone!  Tonight begins with a fully body workout in All in 60 (tonight’s focus: plyometrics and upper body strength), followed by a core strengthening session: Ab Attack.  Both at KRC at 6pm & 7 pm.  See you tonight.

MyFitnessPal App – Great Tool

If you’re looking for a great tool to help you keep track of your food intake, physical activity and vitamin and mineral consumption all wrapped up in an easy to use interface, then you need to try the MyFitnessPal app!

MyFitnessPall is a FREE app with over 1 million foods in their extensive database.  If its not in the list, use the barcode reader to quickly enter the item into the database.  Have a favourite recipe but not sure how to calculate the nutrients and calories for each serving?  No problem.  Enter the recipe and the app will do the rest.

I’ve tried several apps in the same category and so far this is the best I’ve come across.

The End of My Zumba Journey

I’d like to extend a big heartfelt thank you  to all of my Zumba followers over the last year and a half.  I’ve had a fantastic time and I’ve enjoyed sharing your enthusiasm and dedication to keeping fit through Zumba.

Unfortunately, my Zumba journey has come to an end.  Due to a recent knee injury and in hopes of preventing further damage, I have made the decision to stop instructing Zumba.  I will miss you all, but I hope to see you in some of my other classes.  I will continue teaching strength based classes such as core, ball workout, all in 60 and even Groove.  Please check out the Classes page for an updated list of the classes I will be leading this fall. And don’t be surprised if you see me pop in with some new classes!

Hula Tonight in Groove

Tonight traditional hula dance moves meets the Groove!   Throw on that new swishy fitness skort, grab a friend and come on out to sway your hips and work those buns and abs!

Pole Dance Fitness – A New Way to Get Fit!

For just a moment, put aside all preconceived notions you might have about pole dancing and consider a workout that strengthens your entire body, builds core strength, makes you feel more confident – maybe even a little more sexy – and challenges you in a way you’ve never been challenged before.

Pole Dance Fitness classes are becoming  increasingly popular in the Ottawa/Kanata/Stittsville area.  A number of area health & fitness clubs, such as Capital MissFits,  are now offering classes of varying degrees of difficulty.

I have to admit, its one of the most exciting and challenging things I’ve done and now one my favourite ways to exercise.  I leave every class feeling exhilarated and upbeat,  knowing that I’m becoming stronger and even a bit more graceful.  I find myself looking forward to the next week’s challenges and new moves!

As our instructor, Sara, reminds us anyone can pole dance regardless of shape or size.  Our bodies are all unique and can perform at different levels…there is a move for everyone.

So, why not grab your sense of humour and try something new this week.  You might just find you love it too!
